Needed: Mystery Readers I would like to cordially invite any parents, older siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or other friends of your family to surprise your child by being a “Mystery Reader” this year in our classroom. Students LOVE having their family, friends, and relatives visit our classroom to share in our learning by reading a favorite story aloud to our class.
Mystery Readers will send 4 clues about them or the book they plan to bring in… just to build suspense! On Friday, around noon, the Mystery Reader will meet us in the library to read to the class. Readers are asked to bring a book to read or read a teacher-chosen book from our library. Please select a book that will not take more than 30 minutes to read and discuss. I can provide books or help find you just the right one. Picture books often work best, but there are many other options including poetry, short stories, legends, and more!
Look over the calendar and see what works for you. Please give me 3 choices to work with so that I may accommodate the most readers. Don’t forget to sign up those friends and relatives who would love to share with your child’s class. Please send me a “secret note” so your child will not know when to expect you. Or email me at thawley@bladen.k12.nc.us so I can schedule you and help you in selecting a book.
